The Monastery – Proud to have supported more than 700 Cantabrians
The Monastery, a Waikato based wellness centre, has closed this week. More than 700 people directly affected by the Christchurch earthquakes have benefitted from a free stay at The Monastery since May 2011.
“We are incredibly proud of our contribution and the difference our very dedicated team at The Monastery have made to the people of Christchurch,” said Jacqui Graham, joint chief executive of The Monastery’s parent organisation, the Wise Group.
“We are deeply grateful to the staff, who provided an extraordinary service during the last four years, to individuals who donated and to local and nationwide businesses who have supported The Monastery.”
Senior clinical psychologist Terri Donovan said The Monastery was the “lifeline needed for many Cantabrians to keep going”.
“It enabled them to increase their tolerance around uncertainty, to recover some energy and optimism.”
