Quality Hotel Elms Puts on a Feast And a Show for CF

Quality Hotel Elms, part of Choice Hotels Australasia, is showing its support for those living with cystic fibrosis by hosting a charity auction evening expected to raise over $10,000 for Cystic Fibrosis New Zealand.
On Friday 21st August, the Christchurch hotel will be opening its doors to 90 guests for an evening full of festivities and sumptuous dining MC’d by The Sound FM’s Heather Keats.

The evening coincides with the national awareness week for Cystic Fibrosis (17 – 23 August) and all proceeds from tickets and raffle sales will be donated to Cystic Fibrosis New Zealand (CFNZ).

Chris McLaughlin, Hotel Manager of Quality Hotel Elms, said the evening was their way of giving back and showing support for the property’s existing relationship with CFNZ.

“Each year the Quality Hotel Elms gets involved with the $2 donation week coordinated through Choice Hotels where $2 from every night stayed at our hotel goes to CFNZ. This year we wanted to up the ante and see if we could do more,” McLaughlin said.

Sapporo Gold Restaurant & Bar, the hotel property’s on-site restaurant, will be serving a full six-course degustation dinner to guests alongside live entertainment from local musician, Natalie Elms, a charity auction, and raffles where prizes include iPad Minis, outdoor lounge suites, accommodation packages and All Black memorabilia.

A whiskey tasting and boutique Hancock Breweries craft beer stand will also take pride of position within the hotel’s Garden View Room, encouraging guests to sample a variety of beverage options.
Hannah Wilson, Grants and Events Coordinator of Cystic Fibrosis New Zealand, has been working alongside McLaughlin in the planning of the event.

“We’re thrilled with what Chris, his team, and the other local suppliers and businesses getting involved in this evening are doing for us. The money raised will go directly towards our fieldworkers who travel the country to support and positively influence the lives of those living with cystic fibrosis,” says Wilson.

Cystic fibrosis is the most common life threatening genetic disorder affecting New Zealand children. The condition affects several organs, causing shortness of breath, a chronic cough and repeated chest infections. The average life expectancy for those with cystic fibrosis is significantly lower than the general population.
