Massage Therapists and Bodyworkers Volunteer for Earthquake Relief
A group of massage therapists, acupunturists, Bowen Therapist and other bodywork specialist and yoga teachers are volunteering their time to offer therapies to the recent earthquake affected people of Kaikoura, Waiau, Scargil areas and the Emergency services workers involved.
“We have given over 3000 free treatments to stressed, earthquake affected people and rescue workers since the first major earthquake in September 2010.” Said Marina Locke (co-ordinator, NZ Emergency Response (formerly Relief) Therapists). “It’s amazing how people pull together when there is a crisis.”
The volunteer therapists will be working at the Kaiapoi Old Mill on Ranfurly Street (look for the Little Leather entrance). There are many people who are feeling the stress of the earthquake. The therapists will use all their skills to help relieve stress symptoms which can enhance a more restful sleep.
