Stop smoking service Oranga Ha - Tai Poutini is encouraging West Coast smokers to join thousands of others around the world and become smokefree on World Smokefree Day, 31 May.

Team Leader Claire Robertson says Oranga Ha - Tai Poutini want to help as many Coasters as possible quit on World Smokefree Day.

“World Smokefree Day is about encouraging and supporting friends, families and whanau across New Zealand to quit. It’s the perfect time to quit for good,” says Claire.

Claire says everyone who signs up to start their smokefree journey by 31 May, and who is smokefree for one month, will go into the draw to win one of five $100 New World vouchers.

“There’s heaps of great reasons to give up smoking, and the chance for free groceries is just one of them. By quitting you’ll also save money and improve your health. There are no downsides!”

Since it was established late last year, nearly 200 Coasters have approached Oranga Ha - Tai Poutini about becoming smokefree.

“Our face to face and individualised stop smoking programme is having a lot of success. Every day we’re helping Coasters to stop smoking, but there’s always more people we’d like to support!”
