Cranford Hospice CEO Stepping Down
Janice Byford-Jones, Chief Executive Officer of Cranford Hospice, is stepping down after 7 years leading the organisation.
Joining Cranford Hospice at a pivotal time, Janice has led the successful transfer of governance, services and operations of the organisation from Presbyterian Support East Coast to the newly established, Cranford Hospice Trust.
“Janice has been an integral part of Cranford’s development, and will be missed by the Board, staff, volunteers, and people that she has worked with.” says Board Chairperson Frané Rosandich.
Working in healthcare during a pandemic has certainly had its challenges, but under Janice’s leadership Cranford Hospice has continued to provide the best possible palliative care to over 1,000 families in Hawke’s Bay a year.
Janice reflects, “I have felt honoured and privileged to lead such an amazing organisation. The team of dedicated staff and volunteers are passionate and truly special people. The level of care, support and education that Cranford provides for the rohe (local area) can only be achieved with the support that the Hawke’s Bay community provide year on year. I have found it to be a truly humbling experience. To all the people I have had the pleasure of meeting and working with, ngā mihi nui. I urge you to continue to support this very caring and unique organisation.”
Matariki (new beginnings) is a significant reminder of a new phase of opportunity and growth for Cranford Hospice. Janice looks forward to handing over the rākau / baton to the new leader.
Frané continues, “We have exciting times ahead with our new hospice at Chesterhope just on the horizon. The Board and I are incredibly humbled by the commitment from our community, and we look forward to being able to share more about our project over the next couple of months.”
“We are all deeply sorry to be losing Janice, however I know that she has a wonderful team that will continue to provide the excellent support and care for the people of Hawke’s Bay that the organisation is known for.”
Janice is not taking another role at this point and is looking forward to spending more time with her whānau.
A recruitment process will commence quickly to allow a smooth transition to the next phase of the organisation’s journey.
