Christchurch River Body Identified

Christchurch Police have named the body of the woman found in a Canterbury river on Sunday, now the subject of a homicide inquiry.

Twenty year-old Lisa Ann Blakie of Timaru, was last seen by a taxi driver who dropper her off on the outskirts of Christchurch on Wednesday.

Police believe the woman was accompanied with a Labrador-cross “Kaos”. The dog has still not been found.

They have released photographs of both the woman and the dog and are hoping for help from the public to establish the woman’s movements closer to the time of her death.

The woman is believed to have been hitch-hiking but it was not known whether she had planned to leave the town

Tourists found the woman’s close to a bridge in a tributary of Porter’s River near Highway 73 South of Arthur’s Pass where it had been dumped.

Police say while there is strong evidence foul play was involved no murder weapon has yet been found.
