Newsflash: Siamese Twins Have Died
The Siamese twins born on Tuesday have died peacefully this morning in their mother’s arms.
Faith and Hope the twins which shared heart and liver functions were born face to face at Auckland’s National Women’s Hospital early on Tuesday morning.
They died this morning from serious heart complications while being held by their mother Denise Emberson.
Doctors had increasingly become pessimistic that the two twins could be safely separated and had sought help from overseas experts about the twins.
Siamese twins occur once in every 100,000 births. Faith and Hope are the fifth set born in New Zealand, and only the third to survive birth.
The couple have signed an exclusive deal with
TV3’s 20/20 programme to tell their story. They are
currently making no further statement on the
matter.
