Fiji Government Picked At 4pm Today
Fiji's interim military government will this afternoon announce a new civilian administration.
Military spokesman Filipo Tarakinikini said an announcement will be made at 4pm this afternoon at the Queen Elizabeth Barracks at Nabua.
The military is tight-lipped on the names on members who will make up the new government.
Mr. Tarakinikini would not reveal whether any ethnic Indians were in the proposed new regime.
He would also not rule out a possible backlash from Fiji coup leader George Speight, whose men were excluded from the negotiations of a new government, after earlier talks between the two sides broke down.
Meanwhile, internet news site fijilive.com is picking ethnic-Fijian banking executive Laisenia Qarase is a front runner to become Prime Minister.
