Gas Explosion In Downtown Auckland
Several people have been injured and hundreds have been evacuated when a gas cylinder exploded at the Pricewaterhousecoopers building in downtown Auckland.
Police say over 100 litres of an inert gas leaked out of one of 17 gas cylinders in the building. The cylinder exploded after 9am this morning causing widespread damage to the ceiling of the office building.
Two maintenance workers to receive moderate head injuries from the explosion and have been admitted to hospital. Four office workers also suffered cuts and bruising.
Police say the building
has now been declared safe, and workers have returned to
their
desks.
