Unionists Join S11 Protesters
Unionists, who initially did not want to take part in the S11 protests despite their opposition to the World Economic Forum, may have taken part in blockades around the Crown Casino, Green MP and protester Nandor Tanczos said.
Mr Tanczos said a large contingent of Australian trade unionists joined the protesters, coming over the Yarra River to speak to them.
Speaking after lunch, Mr Tanczos said he has had to revise his initial assessment that Melbourne police had been relatively non-violent, saying he is hearing more and more reports of injured protesters, broken teeth, boken ribs, and reports of some protesters have been hospitalised.
Mr Tanczos and fellow Green MP Sue Bradford were trampled as police broke the protester’s line, with Ms Bradford suffering minor injuries.
Mr Tanczos said things
have calmed down since the clashes this
morning.
