Newsflash: Eight Arrested In Wellington Demo
Eight anti-capitalist protesters were arrested in Wellington following the refusal of a protester to leave Westpac Bank in Cuba mall, police said.
Police said the arrests were for obstructing the police and disorderly behaviour in relation to the trespass, and occurred around 1:45 this afternoon.
The protestors occupied Westpac to object to Westpac’s involvement in uranium mining in Australia.
A
protester said the arrests were violent and a few people
were hurt. The protester said they expected the arrested
protesters would get off their charges, as the incident was
captured on
video.
