US Elections: The Custard Thickens
Bush made what amounted to a victory speech at 6:30pm PT tonight, saying Dick Cheney will be heading up a transition team, and asking Gore to concede.
A Republican strategist interviewed in a San Francisco news bulletin immediately afterward said it was the worst thing Bush could have done.
CBS news has just reported that the Democrat holding the keys to the office and the coffers set aside by Congress for the transition team - whosoever's it might be - has previously said he would refuse to hand them over if the election was contested, which it is clear Gore will be doing.
Gore will be addressing the nation at noon ET tomorrow.
I'm not sure which channel it is that's showing "Titanic" at 7, but something substantial just went down.
