PM To Avoid Aggro On Waitangi Day
“Most New Zealanders are fed up with the aggro [on Waitangi Day],” Prime Minister Helen Clark said today. “I want it to be a day all New Zealanders can take pleasure in.”
Her comments come after tensions have arisen within Te Arawa in Rotorua, where Miss Clark was to have attended celebrations, over the Prime Minister’s involvement.
Without giving away what she intended to do with the day, the Prime Minister said she would be looking for events with broad community participation.
