Christians To Broadcast On Leading Radio Network
Christian broadcasters are taking over New Zealand’s largest secular radio network for 15 hours during Easter weekend.
The Christian Broadcasting Association (CBA) has secured the airtime on the nationwide NewstalkZB network. The show will also be broadcast on the popular Radio Sport network, bringing the message of Easter on 35 stations nationwide.
Presenters include Rob Harley, Petra Bagust, Ian Grant and Aaron Ironside with Sir Cliff Richard, Alpha’s Nicky Gumbell, Philip Yancey and Dr William Lane Craig among the guests.
Good Friday will be taken up with talkback. Listeners will also be invited to ask Dr Brian Stiller their questions about the Christian faith. Dr Stiller is the president of Tyndale Seminary in Toronto. Callers will be awarded $100 to donate to a charity of choice for any question not answered to the caller’s satisfaction. On Easter Sunday Ian Grant and Rob Harley will host a fascinating two-hour look at the spirit world from 10pm.
High profile broadcaster and atheist Dr Brian Edwards has accepted an invitation to debate the facts of the resurrection with Christian apologist Dr William Lane Craig. They will discuss the question “did Jesus Christ really rise from the dead?” The one-hour debate will be broadcast live and unedited from 11am Sunday. The slot is called “Cancel the resurrection?” Listeners will be invited to vote for the winner on an 0900 number.
Newstalk ZB is providing the air-time free of charge, however CBA has to raise $10 000 for production costs in order to present the Christian message to the country this Easter.
