On September 29, 2001, more than 10,000 people expressed their opposition to a racist war launched in response to the Sept. 11 attacks on New York and Washington DC. Earlier in the day, protesters (including many masked black bloc anarchists) from the Anti-Capitalist Convergence marched to IMF/World Bank HQ and were attacked by police. Afterwards they joined more than 10,000 anti-war protesters for a rally and march against an upcoming war. The anti-war protesters were met with perhaps 100 counter-protesters in favor of military retaliation.
