Scoop Weather Images: Typhoon Season In Japan
Two typhoons have been threatening Japan in recent days. The first, Chataan, is passing over Tokyo at present. The second, Halong, is still well south of Japan and, according to the Supercomputer Forecast below, forecast to swing away to the south of the island group.

The above image shows typhoon Chataan on July 9th as it approached the Japanese mainlaind. The image captured by Modis , a satellite imaging system typically used for monitoring wildfires. Typhoon Chataan has caused widespread flooding in Japan.
