Stateside with Rosalea: What A Dag!
What A Dag!
Friends, I have suffered enough. Workmates are sending me links to the following story on the BBC website:
** NZ's famous sheep gets TV haircut ** Shrek the sheep, who evaded the shearers for six years, gets a five-star trimming of his giant fleece live on television.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/go/em/fr/-/2/hi/asia-pacific/3665735.stm
And the following two captions accompany Before and After photos on SFGates Day in Pictures pop-up this afternoon:
A ram on the lam for six years, Shrek the hermit sheep enjoys a few final moments with his 60-pound fleece at the Golden Gate Lodge in Cromwell, New Zealand.
Baaa humbug: Bendigo Station owner John Perrian holds a newly shorn Shrek by the neck in Cromwell, New Zealand. Four million TV viewers watched a champion shearer give the merino wether his first wool cut in six years.
(Click on DIP at the right of the SFGate front page to see them.)
Some corrections:
Dear BBC, he wasn't shorn with scissors. They were shears, as in "Click go the shears, boys, click, click, click."
Dear DIP, every man, woman, and child in New Zealand watched him getting shorn? I don't think so. Oh, well, yes maybe a few million sheep watched it too.
Dear everyone, here's the real Kiwi connection to Shrek:

PS, I do have a sense of humour, really!!
