At 11am this morning, a small crowd gathered in front of Parliament House to hear the proclamation officially dissolving the Forty-seventh New Zealand Parliament.
The Proclamation was be read out by Mr Phillip O'Shea CNZM, LVO, New Zealand Herald of Arms Extraordinary to The Queen, as the authorised representative of The Governor-General, Her Excellency The Honourable Dame Silvia Cartwright, PCNZM, DBE.
Also present were the Clerk of the House of Representatives, Mr David McGee CNZM, QC, the Deputy Clerk of the House, Mary Harris, and a Clerk-Assistant of the House, Milton Hollard, as official witnesses
The election will be held on Saturday 17 September. The new Parliament must be called by 18 November.
