This morning Scoop dropped by Bowen House to have a cup of coffee and a quick chat to Clayton Cosgrove, one of the new crop of Cabinet Minister's in the third term Clark Labour Government. Mr Cosgrove entered Parliament in 1999 and was widely touted in the media as a young man going places - along with two other new Labour MPs - David Cunliffe (now the Minister of Immigration) and John Tamihere (currently having a breather and hosting a Sunday morning show on Radio Live). Mr Cosgrove narrowly missed out on being the youngest Cabinet Minister in the Labour-Progressive Government thanks to Nanaia Mahuta's elevation to the Cabinet table.

During the Scoop interview Mr Cosgrove talks of his passion for politics, the St Bede's old boys takeover of Parliament and his thoughts on whether it would be a loss to Parliament if Rodney Hide had disappeared at the election.
Interestingly, the interview with Mr Cosgrove was conducted in the same office that was once occupied by Mr Cosgrove's old friend, the former Minister for Land Information – John Tamihere.
