Scoop Audio: PM Talks About Whales And
Weather

Yesterday Japan won a simple majority on a significant vote at the International Whaling Commission (IWC) for the first time. Conservation Minister Chris Carter expressed disappointment that six pacific nations at the IWC Tuvalu, Kiribati, Nauru, Palau, the Marshall Islands and the Solomons – all voted with Japan.
The decision of New Zealand's small pacific friends to support Japan regarding harpooning whales was a key theme of yesterday's post cabinet press conference. The Prime Minister also took questions on the recent weather and electricity outages and Trevor Mallard's ambitions to one day be New Zealand's Finance Minister.
