(Finally) Released To Greens
This lunchtime Green Party Co-Leader Jeanette Fitzsimons released Cabinet and other papers obtained via the Official Information Act that reveal the background to the $1.5 billion roading package in last year's Budget. According to Ms Fitsimons the new funding system is contrary to legislation, invites cost escalation and gives priority to state highways over all other land transport spending. Ms Fitzsimons also pointed out that the Green Party has been trying to get hold of the information since last May and had to rely on the intercession of the Ombudsman to finally extract the information.
