Online social justice petition sites Get up! and Avaaz have launched a joint campaign demanding Real climate targets from leaders attending the APEC 2007 forum in Sydney this week. The sites have set a task of 100,000 online signatures on a petition to be presented to APEC leaders.LINK
APEC Climate Protest Disrupts Coal Terminal
Climate Protestors have struck again causing workers to take a break for a couple of hours at the Carrington Coal loading Terminal in Newcastle, the world's largest coal port. People for Climate Action Now carried out the action to protest the lack of action on climate change by world leaders gathered at the Asia Pacific Economic Co-operation forum in Sydney. Carrington coal terminal was targeted because it is one of the world's largest coal ports.LINK

You can do this simply by talking to people, and maybe advertising a meeting about student opposition to George Bush; there might also be a number of teachers who will be supportive or sympathetic, who can be a big help. Get names and e-mail addresses down on a contact list. Polls show that the majority of people are against the war in Iraq and want action to be taken against climate change, and this should be reflected in high schools – the difficult part will be convincing these people to be active around these issues and taking part in the protest.
