Police Blacklist to be Defied by Activists
Four of the Sydney people on the Police Security Blacklist last night challenged the list as unconstitutional, but their legal arguments were rejected by the NSW Court of Appeal, sitting in an extraordinary evening session. Despite losing the legal argument, the four men - Dan Jones, Paddy Gibson, Dan Robbins and Tim Davis-Frank - have declared they will defy the ban and participate in Saturday's anti-war march by the Stop Bush Coalition. It took just a few minutes for a satirical skit by comedians to pierce the $250 million Asia Pacific Economic Co-operation meeting security coccoon in Sydney on Thursday. With three black cars, a couple of motorbikes and men in black running alongside, the motorcade breezed through two police security checkpoints arriving outside the Intercontinental Hotel where US President George Bush is staying. Massive NSW coal mine approved = climate chaos
The Iemma Government yesterday approved the new 10million ton per year Moolarben coal mine in the Hunter Valley. It is a climate disaster. When built, the mine will emit millions of tons of greenhouse pollution, and makes further mockery of this government’s claims to take climate change seriously. LINK
