Jail for Trying to Attend a Public Meeting?

Election Integrity Advocate Faces Jail for Trying to Attend a Public Meeting

by Mark Adams

It looks like the criminals who run the "State" of Floriduh are going to jail Ellen Brodsky. Ellen ran for Supervisor of Elections of Broward County, Florida in 2008, and she has been involved in election reform for several years. She has documented numerous violations of election law by Broward County, and when she tried to attend a public meeting concerning the vote count right after the 2008 election, she was arrested. Check out the video of her arrest and my comments showing that the charges are baseless at http://www.bradblog.com/?p=6735

The judge presiding over her case has refused to allow anyone to videotape the proceedings in Ellen´s case although Florida Rule of Judicial Administration 2.450 specifically requires the judge to allow videotaping of all proceedings and the Florida Supreme Court has held that "Freedom of the press is not, and has never been a private property right granted to those who own the news media. It is a cherished and almost sacred right of each citizen to be informed about current events on a timely basis so each can exercise his discretion in determining the destiny and security of himself, other people, and the Nation. News delayed is news denied. To be useful to the public, news events must be reported when they occur. Whatever happens in any courtroom directly or indirectly affects all the public. To prevent star-chamber injustice the public should generally have unrestricted access to all proceedings." State ex rel. Miami Herald Publishing Co. v. McIntosh, 340 So.2d 904, 910 (Fla. 1977).

The judge´s refusal to follow the law and allow videotaping is a violation of 18 U.S.C. § 242 which is a felony. Of course, it is highly unlikely that anyone will be able to get either of the two prosecuting princes to enforce the law since one is persecuting Ellen and the other was appointed by Bush and has actively engaged in covering up criminal abuse of power in Florida for the last 8 years.

This is typical in the Banana Republic of Floriduh when the crooks who run the kleptocracy want to cover up their crimes by jailing someone who wants them to follow the law. For an example see, Florida Court Hiding From Accountability. http://www.northcountrygazette.org/articles/102505CourtAccount ability.html and "Justice" in Florida´s Supreme Court!?! and don´t miss the links below the video.

Ellen's "trial" is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, March 11 at 9:00 AM at the Broward County courthouse in Ft. Lauderdale. Please show up if you can, and please spread the news about this outrageous persecution of an election integrity advocate.

Carpe diem,

Mark A. Adams JD/MBA

Ellen will be on Speak Out Florida on Tuesday 3/10 at 11:00 AM Eastern. You can listen online at http://www.speakoutflorida.com/ and if you can´t catch the show live, you can check out the archives at http://www.speakoutflorida.com/Podcast/Html/AudioArchive.htm
