Streamlining justice – Jonathan Krebs, NZ Law
Society
Justice Minister Simon Power has announced his intentions to streamline the justice system – saving time and money by proposing that anyone facing charges punishable by less than three years in prison should be able to be tried by a judge alone instead of a jury. He also wants to stop defence lawyers from ‘gaming’ the system. What does the NZ Law Society think about all of this? Kim talks to spokesman Jonathan Krebs.
