Brazilian Embassy confirms presence of Zelaya
Havana, Sep 21 (Prensa Latina) The Brazilian Embassy in Honduras confirmed that Jose Manuel Zelaya, Constitutional President of the Central American country, is in the embassy, after the confirmation of his return to his homeland today.
Thousands of citizens have gathered around the embassy, according to news broadcast by Telesur, Zelaya invited the Honduran people to gather outside the diplomatic compound.
He also reported that on his trip to Honduras, the legitimate President was accompanied by four people who walked for several days.
On June 28 last, the coup deposed Zelaya, who was forced out of his home and taken on a plane to Costa Rica, after a stopover at a military base in Palmerola.
The head of state was usurped by Roberto Micheletti, who before the military coup held the post of president of the National Congress of Honduras.
On Sunday fifth of July, Zelaya first attempted to return to his country by air but the coupsters denied landing permission and the military blocked the Tonkontín airport runway in Tegucigalpa.
The people, led by the National Resistance Front, had gathered at the airport terminal to meet him, but soldiers fired into the crowd, causing several deaths and injuries.
