The All Whites take on Paraguay in Polokwane, South Africa on June 24 and their fans in Dublin, Ireland are looking forward to the World Cup with great expectations. Angel Denis from Capiata thinks that the South Americans will upset a few favourites in South Africa.
“We will be the surprise of the World Cup and we are happy to be considered underdogs. The group is accessible. It’s good to have Italy in the first game,” said the Paraguayan at the team’s hotel in before the warm-up game with the Republic of Ireland.
He was also forthcoming about how important recovering striker Salvador Cabanas, who was shot in the head in Mexico City last January, was to the team, “He is a massive loss, and the players have lost a brother from the team. They will play for him and dedicate every goal to him.”
Unfortunately for Angel and his friends Paraguay fell to a 2-1 defeat against the Republic of Ireland and the team’s display can be described as timid. They will be hoping for better results (and performances) in the upcoming friendlies against Ivory Coast and Greece. And, of course, against New Zealand.
