Christchurch Rocked By Strong 5.0 Aftershock
Christchurch has been struck with another strong aftershock causing powercuts and ICT outages across the region.
GNS Science recorded the aftershock measuring a Richter magnitude of 5.0, at 11:32 am, 10 kilometres south-west of Christchurch with a focal depth of 9 kilometres.
GNS reports the quake was felt widely felt in Canterbury, including: “Strong shaking in Christchurch area.”
Christchurch Police stated: “Initial indications are there has not been any significant damage although some phones have been affected.
“There are reports of some roofing collapsing at the Riccarton Mall so the mall has been evacuated as a precaution.”
