Wellington Arts Festival’s outdoor events begin in impressive style with Arcane and Michael Tuffery’s First Contact. Scoop was there for the full spectacle.

First Contact – First Night

Digital art visuals from Linechecker, music and dance from the Whitireia Performing Arts School, The Nomad, Horomona Horo, Rhombus in Dub and Raviah45.

The visuals began with iterative patterns which seemed to vibrate in time with the music.

As the musicians and performers began to add layers of complexity, so too the imagery became more complex, incorporating film samples and live projections:
