GCSB Bill Remains The Govt’s Priority

After next week’s adjournment the Government will give priority to the Government Communications Security Bureau and Related Legislation Amendment Bill, Leader of the House Gerry Brownlee told MPs today.

Brownlee said “if time allowed” the Government would also seek to make progress on the Resource Management Reform Bill and Patents Bill.

The petition of Dr Lynley Hood and Associate Professor Gordon Sanderson was presented on behalf of the Visual Impairment Charitable Trust Aotearoa NZ and 1,321 others requesting the House inquire into the need for accessible, comprehensive low vision rehabilitation services for the growing number of New Zealanders disabled by irreversible vision loss who do not qualify for membership of the Royal New Zealand Foundation for the Blind.

The Auditor-General’s report Commentary on Affording our Future: Statement on New Zealand’s Long-term Fiscal Position was presented to the House as was the Finance Committee’s report on the Report from the Controller and Auditor-General, Roles, responsibilities, and funding of public entities after the Canterbury earthquakes.
