1. Mounting concerns about Greece are driving down global stock markets. Greece risks bankruptcy if it doesn’t make a payment to the IMF tomorrow.

2. European Commission president Jean-Claude Juncker says Greek leaders have shown egotism in walking away from debt talks. Meanwhile the American and French presidents have discussed the Greek debt crisis, and the White House says they have agreed it is important to put together a package of reforms for Greece to return to sustainable growth.

3. From tomorrow drivers will pay less to licence their vehicles, more children will get free doctor’s visits and palliative care and parental leave will have funding boosts. Prime Minister John Key says the new policies will deliver real benefits to families.

4. Under the health changes coming into effect, children under 13 won’t be charged for GP visits and prescriptions if their doctor and pharmacist have signed up to the scheme. The policy is to cost $90 million over three years and the Government says 400,000 children will benefit. The Ministry of Health won’t comment on how many surgeries and pharmacists have signed up to the scheme.

5. A disease associated with Victorian times, rickets, has been identified in 58 cases - a third of them in Auckland and Northland - in an Otago University study carried out over three years. The disease is caused by a Vitamin D deficiency, and at risk mothers and children need to be better targeted with supplements.
