Cosplay and Wrestling at Armageddon Wellington -
Photos

Armageddon Expo wrapped on Sunday with wrestling and a cosplay (costume play) competition. The gathered nerds were in good spirits with the Westpac stadium turning into a liminal space of fantasy, sci-fi and anime.
At every turn there were stalls selling DVDs, action figures, posters, t-shirts and even steam-punk jewellery. The real highlight though was the incredible costumes people had designed for the event.
Cosplay means to dress up and act as fictional characters from comics, video games and so on. For many it's more of a lifestyle than a hobby, with months going into lavish designs to enter in competition.
The wrestling also entertaining. One contender heckled the crowd, calling them nerds and telling them they looked stupid in their costumes. He was, of course, beaten by his adversary.
We were on hand to grab photos of the wrestling and the best cosplay on show.
