PM's Press Conference 12/6/17
Prime Minister Bill English began this week's post-cabinet press conference by discussing plans for his upcoming delegation to the Pacific islands including the signing of the PACER Plus agreement and new aid announcements.
Questions were dominated by Labour's newly announced immigration policy, which English considered too restrictive. He did not expect current high net immigration levels to continue but did not indicate a preferred level, saying immigration was needed to support the growing economy.
Other topics included local government infrastructure and income, and support for youth not in employment, education, or training.
