FARMER’S ORDEAL: A Methven farmer who spent 5 days and nights pinned under his tractor with only a litre and a half of water is now in Christchurch hospital. His left leg was badly crushed and may have to be amputated.

- STATUE APOLOGY: Dutch travellers have issued an apology to Nelson Maori for not consulting them about erecting a statue of Abel Tasman on Maori land. Maori have accepted the apology and the unveiling went ahead.
