BPS Statement Released - New Super Fund - Broadcast Revenue Down - Cricket Spectator – Crooked Dick - Team NZ Parade

BPS STATEMENT RELEASED: The new Government has unveiled a new approach to superannuation in its Budget Policy Statement released today. Although short on specifics the Statement includes 6 billion dollars worth of spending and the setting up of a new superannuation fund. The Government expects a robust economy in its first term.

NEW SUPER FUND: The Government’s plans for a new superannuation fund encouraging public saving was unveiled today. Finance Minster Michael Cullen said the scheme would aim to negate the increasing burden on taxpayers as the aging population grows. The government also wants a referendum for legislation to stop future administrations raiding the investment. However ACT National and The Greens do yet support the proposed fund.

BROADCAST REVENUE DOWN: The Government has lost 28 million of dollars in revenue because people have stopped paying their New Zealand-On-Air license fee a year early after the National government scrapped the tax.

CRICKET SPECTATOR: A second spectator at last week’s one day cricket celebration in Auckland has charged police at the match with assault.

CROOKED DICK: A High Court judge in Christchurch has made public the name of a former detective who stole thousands of dollars in computer materials.

TEAM NZ PARADE: Team New Zealand and Team Prada have flown from Auckland to parades in Wellington and an official reception with the Prime Minister.
