EARTHQUAKE: The central North Island rocked at 6.52pm last night with an earthquake measuring seven on the Richter Scale 420 kilometres northeast of Gisborne and 33 kilometres deep.

HEALTH ELECTIONS: Millions of dollars more have been spent on health board elections than have been put into increased hospital funding this year, yet a lack of interest may mean candidates will be elected unopposed or health Minister Annette King will continue to hand-pick appointments.
