1. SAMOAN ASSASSINATION - A Samoan Cabinet Minister has been charged with inciting to murder in relation to the killing of a fellow minister. He entered no plea to this charge as he did to previously placed charges for the death. One man has already pleaded guilty to murder and been sentenced to death. Police today raided a government department at the centre of the corruption allegations.

2. GISBORNE CONCERT - Dame Kiri Te Kanawa will sing at Gisborne's free dawn concert thanks to a lottery grant. Jenny Shipley made the announcement and said it was a fitting way for the money to be spent.

3. HIV MAN JAILED - A Christchurch man has been sentenced to nine months jail for sleeping with his partner and not saying he had HIV. The man's defence team said he was intensely devoted and didn't want to lose the partner. The Crown said it was a act of selfishness which endangered another's life, the Judge agreed.

4. TELECOM CEO - Telecom's new CEO says she has faced discrimination as a woman. She is the first woman to head one of NZ's major companies and at 37 one of the youngest. Only seven per cent of companies are headed by women, only 3% of the major companies.

5. DRIVER ID - The Palmerston North Mayor is unimpressed with the new driver licence system. It took her four attempts to get one due to system failures. Another women is angry that she has received an application for her husband who has been dead nine years.

6. AFTER THE FLOODS - Eight months ago floods devastated parts of Northland, but since then the community has rallied around to rebuild houses and move low lying buildings to higher ground.
