Search and Surveillance
Bill
The Justice and Electoral Committee has been considering the Search and Surveillance Bill since August 2009, and has received evidence from a range of submitters.
The committee has now made an interim report to the House of Representatives to facilitate a process of further consultation with the public, including an opportunity for them to provide the committee with additional written submissions. It is not the intention of the committee to conduct any further hearings of evidence.
Copies of the committee’s interim report can be obtained from the parliament website.
(www.parliament.nz) and submissions can be made online at http://www.parliament.nz/en- NZ/PB/SC/MakeSub/.
The committee is requesting that submitters focus on the amended version of the bill and additional supporting materials appended to the report, which is intended to address the concerns of submitters, clarify the existing legislative position, and explain the proposed changes.
Previous submitters will be contacted directly by the committee.
