The Chris Brown story is nothing more than the tour promoters trying to influence the outcome of a visa application, promote the tour and sell tickets, says Labour’s Maori Development spokesperson Nanaia Mahuta.
“Unfortunately, those that have talked out on the issue to support Chris Brown have failed to see it for what it is.
“Domestic violence is a serious issue in New Zealand and its disappointing that it should be used in this way.
“If Immigration New Zealand do approve entry, I would like to see Mr Brown donate his New Zealand performance fees and royalties to appropriate domestic violence services. Then, perhaps, his artistic contribution could be taken more seriously, says Nanaia Mahuta.
