Cuisine and TV Guide printers off the job
Workers at a high-quality printing plant in Christchurch have walked off the job today in a move which could affect production of the TV Guide, Cuisine, House and Garden and other publications.
Some 120 workers at PMP Print in Christchurch say they are angry that their collective employment agreement hasn’t been settled – despite three months of negotiations.
The workers are seeking a one-year agreement with a four per cent pay rise. The company has offered a three per cent pay rise this year and another three per cent next year.
PMP Print is an Australian company with 22 sites in Australia and two in New Zealand. The Christchurch plant is a high-quality sheet and reel-fed plant. The Auckland site is not involved in the dispute.
Meanwhile, journalists and dispatch workers at the Northern Advocate newspaper in Whangarei continued their strike today. The workers are seeking a 3.5 per cent pay rise.
