CPAG Mourns the Loss of Rod Donald
Child Poverty Action Group is deeply saddened at the news of the death of Green Party co-leader Rod Donald.
Rod brought integrity, energy and refreshing far-sightedness to the political life of Aotearoa.
He was eloquent in support of this year’s Every Child Counts campaign, saying “it is morally indefensible that children are still growing up in poverty in our wealthy country.” He also noted that as adults we are “the guardians of the earth for our children and we have a vested interest to ensure every child grows up to be a healthy, productive citizen because that’s the best security we can have in our old age.”
CPAG mourns the loss of an immensely talented New Zealander who engendered deep and widespread respect for his determined battling for his political principles.
Our sincere condolences to his family and to the Green Party.
