NZ Post talks adjourned

Talks to renew the New Zealand Post collective agreement – one of New Zealand’s largest private-sector industrial agreements – have adjourned with workers strong in their resolve for a decent pay rise.

Last Friday, 5000 postal workers launched a campaign for a five per cent pay rise.

Engineering, Printing and Manufacturing Union national secretary Andrew Little said that union officials and delegates were now reporting back to members on the three days of negotiations held this week.

“Our members are very determined in their resolve to lift wages at New Zealand Post,” he said.

“They work hard, the organisation is doing well, and yet most workers are paid between $12 and $14 an hour. New Zealand Post cannot afford to ignore what’s happening.”

Talks are scheduled to resume next Thursday.
