Make a bid for human
rights
Amnesty International Aotearoa New Zealand is excited to announce its inaugural charity art auction, ARTicle 19.
An art exhibition and silent auction, ARTicle 19 is the brainchild of seven interns volunteering at Amnesty International.
Featuring art generously donated by renowned and emerging New Zealand artists including Nigel Brown, Otis Frizzell, Misery, Trust Me, Shane Hammond, Kelly Thompson, Luis Velloci, Tanya Blong, Cinzah Merkens, and DRYPNZ, ARTicle 19 will celebrate art, activism and human rights
The event is being coordinated by volunteers and is run entirely on the goodwill of people who believe in the fundamental human rights of people everywhere.
“Freedom of expression is a fundamental human right, and it is central to all of our work at Amnesty”, says Patrick Holmes, CEO of Amnesty New Zealand.
“It’s great that the interns have chosen to celebrate and draw attention to the right of people everywhere to enjoy freedom of opinion and expression, as it is a right appreciated by few but denied to many.”
People unable to attend the event are encouraged to view the art and submit bids via email at www.article19.org.nz in the week leading up to the event.
Online bidding opens on July 1st and is available for seven days, culminating in an exhibition event held from 7-10pm on July 7 at Shed 10 in central Auckland. Interested bidders can submit further bids during the exhibition via phone.
All proceeds from this event will contribute to Amnesty International’s work promoting and protecting human rights worldwide.
