igovt a winner at the FutureGov Awards in Malaysia
In mid-October the igovt Identity Verification Service (IVS) won an international award for the security of its system. The igovt IVS won the Information Security category for secure capture, storage and distribution of people’s information.
The FutureGov Awards is an annual awards process that celebrates best practice in Asia’s public sector.
Manager Integrity & Identity Programmes, Andrea Gray, says the award is further recognition of the strength of the security built into the IVS.
“The protection of individuals’ personal information has been one of the fundamental principles throughout the whole development of the IVS, which started with privacy built in as a design feature. People using igovt are in control of their own information, and can choose whether to use igovt when carrying out transactions online with government agencies.”
The igovt IVS helps users verify their identity to government service providers securely via the Internet, and allows government service providers to offer users a more personalised online service involving more valuable transactions because they have confidence in the user’s identity.
As more government service providers sign up to igovt, users will have more opportunities to use igovt when they interact with government online. IVS will save the user time and money because they will not have to use documents repeatedly to verify their identity to every government service provider they deal with.
This year is the fourth year of the FutureGov awards, and has seen an unprecedented increase in the number of awards nominations – 869 nominations from public sector organisations in 16 countries.
The Awards are organised by FutureGov Asia Pacific magazine, an independent trade journal focusing on public sector modernisation and are judged by an international panel of senior civil servants.
