Last Contingent Departs for Afghanistan -

Media are invited on Tuesday 25 September to attend the farewell at Burnham Military Camp, Christchurch of the last contingent of NZ Defence Force personnel to depart for a six month deployment to Afghanistan.
The contingent, made up of personnel from 2nd 1st Battalion Royal New Zealand Infantry Regiment (2/1 RNZIR) and supporting units, will be the 21st rotation to serve in the New Zealand Provincial Reconstruction Team (NZ PRT) in Bamyan Province. The remainder of personnel making up the final rotation will depart early next month.
