On Q+A this week, can we still afford the Kiwi dream of home ownership? Or is a house of their own beyond young families today? In April the Productivity Commission delivered its landmark report on Housing Affordability and for seven months the government has had it under consideration.

This Sunday, Bill English responds to the report for the first time, tackling the crucial subject of housing affordability. When two bedrooms homes in central Auckland can top a million dollars, how do we start building homes that people can afford? Do we need to open up more land on the outskirts of our cities? Build smaller homes? Help out first home buyers? We’ll hear the government’s new plans live.

Then, MPs have turned to drink this week as the alcohol reform bill passes through the House. National says “it’s the first attempt by any government to limit alcohol”, but opposition parties say it’s a missed opportunity as their amendments get poured down the drain. Chester Burrows and Lianne Dalziel are live with Paul Holmes.

And finally, Julian Robertson is the Wall Street billionaire who fell in love with New Zealand. In a rare interview we ask him about foreign investment. Should we worry about losing the likes of the Crafar Farms or Fisher & Paykel? Or should we encourage more overseas investment to spark growth? And after the Global Financial Crisis, have the bankers of New York learnt any lessons?
