Changes at the top

Air Vice-Marshal Kevin Short, Air Commodore Mike Yardley and Brigadier Tim Gall will be taking on new senior roles in the New Zealand Defence Force.
Air Vice-Marshal (AVM) Short moves to Vice Chief of Defence Force and Brigadier Tim Gall will take on the role of Commander Joint Forces that AVM Short vacates.
The new Chief of Air Force will be Air Commodore Mike Yardley who takes over from retiring Air Vice-Marshal Pete Stockwell.
Chief of Defence Force Lieutenant General Tim Keating said he was pleased with the appointments and looked forward to all three joining his senior leadership team.

“I am pleased these three have been chosen to fill these vital roles. They all have proven track records, and will bring a wealth of experience to the Defence Force’s Senior Leadership Team. I’m looking forward to working with them.”
