AGENCY PLEASED WITH COURT RULING
The New Zealand Sports Drug Agency is pleased with the ruling of the High Court which has accepted that the procedures and equipment used by the Agency in its drug testing programme comply with the Law.
Agency Executive Director Graeme Steel said that "This was a particularly important case for the Agency because the testing programme in New Zealand had to be shown to be consistent with accepted international standards."
"We are now in a position to continue with our important pre- Olympic testing programme, both here and overseas, with full confidence that the methods which we use are acceptable to the Courts ." said Steel
The ruling of the High Court means that the original decision of the Agency stands. The relevant sporting organisations will now be in a position to conduct a disciplinary hearing to determine what actions they should take.
