Hagen wins Round Two
Hagen wins Round Two of NZ National Mountain Biking Series
Scarlett Hagen of Queenstown raced to a convincing 12 second win in round two of the NZ National Mountain Biking series held at Coronet Peak today. This gives Hagen two wins from two races after she won at Treble Cone last week.
“ It was great racing in my home town in front of all the people that have helped and supported me over the years and of course it was wicked to win in Queenstown too!” said the 2004 Junior World Champion. Scarlett races in the challenging downhill discipline.
“ Coronet Peak is an amazing facility with chairlift access and fantastic tracks. Just like riding in France”said the 19 year old “ Now it’s all here at home”
Scarlett rode well after conditions changed from sunny skies this morning to a torrential downpour for the race. “ Mud isn’t my favourite, but I just tried to concentrate on staying on and riding smoothly” said the teenager.
Scarlett will race next week in Dunedin for round three of the five round series.
Scarlett thanks her sponsors; GT Bikes, Red Bull, Adidas Eyewear, AJ Hackett Bungy, Video Ezy, Bike Fix, Maxxis, Fox, Queenstown Chiropractic Clinic, Pulse Fitness, The Skeggs Foundation and The Community Trust of Southland.
