Samoa Names Wider Traning Squad for Pacific Cup
Samoa Names Wider Traning Squad for Pacific Rugby Cup and
Pacific Nations Cup
Samoa rugby selectors
have named a wider training squad following the Agility
Samoa Tri Nation Series at Waitemata Rugby Club Stadium,
Auckland to prepare for the upcoming Pacific Rugby Cup in
May and the Pacific Nations Cup in June this year.
Manu Samoa head coach, Fuimaono Titi Tafua, says the availability of players and injuries is always a concern hence the need for a wider training squad to be selected. The Rugby World Cup is only a few months away and such tournaments as the Agility Samoa Tri Nation Series allows selectors the opportunity to see some new talents in action.
This year, Samoa Barbarian won the Senior Division, with New Zealand Samoa winning the U20 division and the Women’s Division.
NZSRU President, Aiolupotea John Roache, said “It has been a very successful event with some great rugby played over the last two weeks.”
Players selected are required to contact their Samoa union representatives to confirm their availability.
